Another Benefit to Paying Cash

January 1st, 2007 at 11:21 pm

One of my resolutions for this year was to pay cash for all purchases except bills. No credit cards and no debit cards--cash only. So far I have been paying cash for ALL purchases for the past week and a half. I figured that by only paying cash I would spend less (which I do) but I didn't realize how quickly my change jar would fill up. Since all of the change in this jar goes for resolution #2 Save $5,000 this is a great added bonus!

I'm a debit card fan and really should limit or stop that and go back to using cash only, which I did for years. I think I'll do that and put the change in my savings jar. Thanks for the reminder to use cash!

I admire your ability to do this! I spend all cash like I'm Duke the dog and have a printing press in the basement! I do better w/the debit card and now have the CC under control and payoff any charges, so debit or check does it for me for the most part w/the occassional CC purchase that's immediately subtracted from the checkbook.

I recently started saving all my $1 bills that I get back in change, instead of just the coins. It adds up a lot faster, it is amazing. If you want to bump it up a notch, try it.

i also save change and ones, and i wind up saving 25-30% of my monthly allowance this way!
